The XLVIII Super Bowl itself might not have been that exciting, but hopefully the advertisements brought you some entertainment on game day. At 4 million dollars a pop, these advertisements have to live up to a lot of expectations. There has been some debate about which ads were the best this year, but the five listed below are some of the most highly-regarded commercials from the super bowl. Check them out and see if any of your favorites made the cut!

Budweiser

It’s becoming clear that the way to consumers’ hearts is through puppies because the Budweiser ad “Puppy Love” was extremely popular this year. In the ad, Budweiser’s famous Clydesdale horses and a few adorable puppies resonated on an emotional level with many viewers, making it one of the most successful advertisements of the super bowl.

Seinfeld

It’s been almost 25 years since Seinfeld aired, but the show is clearly just as popular as ever. The mini Seinfeld reunion brought back George Costanza (Jason Alexander), Newman (Wayne Knight), and of course Jerry Seinfeld, to the popular Tom’s Restaurant from the series. It ended up being a bit of an advertisement for Seinfeld’s web series, “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee”. In the end, the ad played on nostalgia, and people were excited to see some of their favorite characters getting back together again.

Jaguar

Jaguar’s clever advertisement brought in big name actors Tom Hiddleston, Ben Kingsley, and Mark Strong for a 007-type commercial. The ad played on the villainous bad boy image of these actors, and made driving a Jaguar seem even cooler. For their first-ever super bowl spot, it’s impressive that this became one of the most popular ads during the big game.

RadioShack

For its super bowl ad, RadioShack made fun of itself by admitting that it was stuck in the 80s. The line “The 80s are here, they want their store back” brings in droves of celebrities from the decade who begin to ransack the store. Dee Snider, Mary Lou Rhetton, Alf, Hulk Hogan, and Chucky all make appearances. The commercial works as a way to appeal to consumers who have been more likely to shop at Best Buy and Walmart over the years due to the out-dated nature of the store.

Dannon Oikos

Another commercial that played on nostalgia was for Dannon Oikos greek yogurt. By putting together a Full House reunion starring Bob Saget, Dave Coulier, and John Stamos, the ad appealed to the viewers soft spot for the 80s and 90s sitcom. Not sure what happened to the rest of the cast, but the ad brought some unexpected laughs to an otherwise boring super bowl.
