Twitter is looking more and more like Facebook these days. With the new layout changes, marketers might find themselves confused about how this impacts their Twitter strategy. Although social media changes can be unpopular at first, they often improve upon the previous layout and provide marketers with the opportunity to further build their profiles. If you’re still trying to find your way around the new Twitter layout, and are unsure of what do to, here are a few things to keep an eye on.
Profile Header Photo
The header photo is now located at the top of the page and stretches out to fill the entire length of the screen at 1500×500 pixels. Just like before the change, you can customize your header photo or create your own to upload in this spot. The change might not seem like much, but the image is much more predominant than it used to be.
How to use it:
The profile header photo change gives you a greater opportunity to create a compelling image. Since your old header carved out space for your bio, there wasn’t much room for a quality photo. If you’re looking for a simple way to design a great header, consider checking out Canva. Make sure you think about your brand and what you’re trying to convey through your image.
Profile Picture
Your profile picture is also larger due to the Twitter layout changes at 400×400 pixels. The location has also changed from the center of the page to the left side. If you haven’t made any changes to your profile picture, Twitter has automatically resized your photo to fit that space, so make sure everything checks out.
How to use it:
The profile picture and header changes allow you to have greater control over how the two work together. The profile picture is no longer located smack dab in the middle of the page, so you can build a design that best fits your company and your page. Coordinate your profile picture and header picture to create a visually appealing profile.
The Size and Location of Your Tweets
Your “best” tweets, or your most popular tweets, will now appear in a bigger font than the rest. You also have the ability to pin a tweet, which allows you to promote the content you choose. Don’t forget there are greater options to filter your tweets, so take some time to check out the settings and decide what you want to share and see on your page.
How to use it:
Much like Facebook, the ability to pin tweets can be a big advantage to marketers. If you want something to stay at the top of your profile, pinning it will allow that to happen. There’s a big chance that a tweet can get lost in the mix, so try out the pinning option if you want to make sure visitors see it.
Due to the new changes, this might be the perfect time to focus on the design of your Twitter and take steps to make it more powerful. What do you think of the new changes? Share with us!
