4 Ways to Build Your Email List Using Social Media

According to Hubspot’s research, email marketing is one of the most popular forms of marketing today. Email marketing is a great method for reaching prospects, as well as building relationships with customers. How can you utilize email to grow your audience and generate more leads and sales, then? The answer to that is grow your email list! One of the most important aspects of email marketing is convincing people to join your email list. You are probably already collecting email addresses through your company’s website, but what about on social media? You can use social media engagement to turn your followers and fans into subscribers. In today’s blog post, we are going to go over 4 different ways to build your email list using social media.

  1. Email Sign-Up Forms

In addition to your website, you should also set up a simple email sign-up form on your social media networks. This makes it easily available for your followers and fans to subscribe to your email list, even if they don’t feel like visiting your website. The best way to do this is to either add a link to your sign-up form in the bio and/or “About Me” section on your social media profile, or you could add a sign-up app directly onto social media pages that let you, such as Facebook. Facebook has a dedicated tab at the top right-hand side of your page for an email sign-up form. Many popular email programs already provide pre-made apps that connect directly with Facebook, making this process simpler than ever. Having your sign-up form connected to your Page is very useful because it keeps your Fans from having to leave Facebook to sign up. When you make things easy for your audience, they are more likely to take action. Another good tip for your email sign-up form is to keep it simple. If I see a form that looks like it is going to take more than 10 seconds to fill out, I tend to skip it.

  1. Contests & Giveaways

Creating contests, giveaways, and sweepstakes are another great way to get people to sign up for your email list. Many marketers host contests and similar promotions to grow their followers and fans on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other social media networks. However, the main goal of these promotions should be to increase your email list. You can run a contest where the first 20 subscribers receive a 50% off deal, or make joining your email list one of these requirements for entering the contest. Do not forget to promote your contest or giveaway. You could make it an entry requirement to re-tweet or share the giveaway info. Facebook is usually the most popular social media network used for promotions since it is the most customizable for promos. Your business can host a Facebook contest on an app tab and advertise it on the Facebook timeline. There are many Facebook apps available online to run your contests, sweepstakes or giveaway: Fanappz, OfferpopVotigo

Make sure to choose an app that offers a sign-up form as a type of entry for participants. This is how your business will grow your email list from a contest, giveaway, or sweepstake on Facebook. After you have published your contest, promote it on all of your social media networks to drive new traffic to the contest or promotion and increase sign-ups to your email list!

  1. Webinars & Events

While the main goal of a webinar is to give your audience valuable information about your company or industry, it is also a good opportunity to build your email list. There are programs you can use to host your webinar like Any Meeting, GoToWebinar, and WebEx. These webinar programs feature a sign-up form to collect emails from viewers before they enter the webinar. You can use social media to promote and maximize traffic to your webinar, and your email list will probably grow in the process.

  1. Twitter’s Lead Generation Cards

What is a Twitter Lead Generation Card? According to Twitter, “When someone expands your Tweet, they’ll see a description of the offer and a call-to-action. Their name, @username and email address (which they have previously entered in their Twitter settings) are already pre-filled within the Card. With a simple click of a button, the user can send this information directly to you.” Lead cards let advertisers upload an image of an offer, and if you are interested in that offer, you can click a button that signs you up. Twitter’s Lead Generation Cards make it super easy for people to join your email list. The only downside to Twitter’s lead cards is that they are not free.

If you are not utilizing these email list growth tactics, try them out! Connecting with your audience through social media is a great way to build and create relationships with your customers, but it can also help you grow your email list. It is an easy way to reach new prospects and to increase new subscriptions by who are already following you on social media. I hope this blog post will help you reach your email list growth goal!
